Message from Present Coordinator, Vasco Pereira da Silva

ELPIS coordinator 2015 - Present

As the coordinator of the ELPIS Network, I am expected to act like the “owner of the house” and introduce you our Webpage. I believe that my duties as a (good) “owner of the house” are as such:

  1. To say hello and welcome all the guests and thank them for the visit;
  2. To organize a “guided tour” through the house, showing to the guests our “four rooms” (“About us”, “Resources”, “Activities”, Contacts”), and a “living room” (appropriately named “Home”);
  3. To wish that all the guests enjoy the party and feel like coming back again soon.

I will try to do my best in order to fulfill all my duties, in this order:

Hello and Welcome

If you are an ELPIS partner or an associated member, you are looking for recent developments in the Group, you want to know the latest news, the events organized by the other partners, and you want to make sure that the initiatives promoted by your Faculty are announced in the webpage. If you are a student, you want to know the initiatives that the ELPIS group is organizing, or you want to reach and contact the Faculties members in order to organize your future study-abroad experience. If you are lost in the “web galaxy” but you became curious curious on what the page is about you may find here the story and the main events organized by the ELPIS network. The ELPIS Network webpage is prepared to give all kind of visitors the necessary and concise information they need.

“Guided Tour” through the house
As said before, the “house” is a T4, it comprehends “four rooms” and “one living room”.
The first room is “About us”. Here you can find a short “History” of the group, you may know who is the present Coordinator as well as who were the formers (“Coordination”), you are informed about who are the members (“Members”) and the associated members (Associated Members”) and you are able to access the web-pages of all of them, by clicking in the photos of the different Faculties and Universities.

The second room is called “Resources”. It is where each member can share their views and experiences about scientific law related subjects, academic and educational best practices, and so on.

The third room is about the main “Activities” of the ELPIS Network. It talks about the “Projects” of the ELPIS Network – the “Erasmus Mundus”, that is a Joint Master Program organized by the Universities of Hannover, Rouen and Lisbon, and the “EU Survey”, a former research on law teaching in Europe, realized by the consortia -, it gives information about the “Summer Schools” organized by the members; and finally it provides information about “Member Initiatives” that have an European dimension.

The fourth room tells you how to contact with the coordinating institution of the ELPIS Network, the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon (“Faculdade de Direito da Universidade de Lisboa”).

Let us Party

So, now, after welcoming all the guests and visiting the house, my task is almost accomplished. You are invited to know all about the ELPIS Network, that literally means “Hope”, in the greek language, and it is the acronym for «European Legal Practice Integrated Studies». Enjoy our home, have fun and enjoy the party. And feel free to come back soon…
